Today, I have a Nigerian brand foundation review for you.

I have had the notion that I have to get the foreign brands when it comes to foundations, just to be sure that the quality is the best. But as time went on I realized that the Nigerian makeup brands are not here to play. They have stepped up their game.

Believe me when I say that Nigerian makeup brands are and you see that the shades are tailored to suit the Nigerian skin tones and also suitable for the weather.

So I want to introduce this makeup brand that is not new in the makeup game HEGAI AND ESTHER!

I met this brand at the very first Abuja makeup fair organized by POPS concept, and then they were solely into makeup tools, brushes, books, makeup boxes etc. I think I got free gift from them. LOL, I actually bought a pair of scissors for grooming the brows and spooly brushes…

Fast Forward to now.

HEGAI AND ESTHER and is now a full-blown makeup brand, with products like foundations, lipsticks, brow gels, pressed powders etc.

At the Port Harcourt makeup fair, I visited a stand @dhoopy_dhoppy , a vendor from Lagos and a sales rep did a good job at convincing me to try out the Photo perfect foundation in bronze.

I was reluctant at first but I took the leap and I am super glad I did.  It retailed for about NGN 4500. I can’t remember the exact price.

Shade – Bronze
Roughly blended

Believe me, I am still enjoying it to date.

  • Good finishing and blending
  • Matte finish
  • Paraben-free
  • no caking
  • good layering
  • good coverage and buildable.
  • good packaging, tempered glass but I would have preferred a kid-friendly packaging because my boy is always helping me while I do my makeup. If you know what I mean … LOL
  • No need to mix to get the right tone
  • Pump dispenser but fails from time to time. I have to unscrew to apply some foundation.
  • Little goes a long way

  1. Hi Zobam, thanks for writing this review. I’m currently researching affordable foundations to purchase but the struggss is real yo! or maybe the options are just too many. It’ll be helpful if you shared your skin undertone with us. I have warm undertones but I’m assuming bronze would work for me based on the other reviews of this product.
Also, what skin types does it work for? Is the matte truly matte? How long does it last before it loses its matte finish? I believe this will help me decide if I should go ahead with purchasing this product.
It’s budget friendly though so that’s a score in my bag.

    1. Hi Dear, I know you would be wondering why I haven’t replied your comment yet. Anyways I was waiting for a time that I would wear the foundation out for a long time and watch it attentively so I can give you a comprehensive reply that would be useful to you. My undertone is warm going towards orange. I have a combination skin type and it’s quite sensitive. But so far I haven’t had breakouts. I had it on for about 3-4hra without touch up before I noticed some oil on my nose and above my brows. Another thing I would consider would be the technique I used for application. I first of applied my colour correctors, then setting powder. Then the foundation I applied it with a brush then blended it with a beauty blender. Then set it with setting powder before I went ahead with contouring and the rest
